The Quality Management System used by the Vichy Catalan Group's companies is based on the ISO 9001 standard.
The ISO 9001 standard was first drawn up in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) ISO/TC176 Technical Committee, as a development of the British quality standard BS5750 of 1979.
It was based on the principles of Client Satisfaction and Continual Improvement. These were established by the American professors Deming, Juran, Shewhart and others after the Second World War and successfully applied in Japan.
These principles, which led to what is known as the ''Japanese miracle'', are summarised in Deming's famous 14 points and in the Continuous Improvement Cycle:
